Deltron 3030 is an alternative hip hop supergroup composed of Dan the Automator, Del the Funky Homosapien and Kid Koala. The group's debut album, Deltron 3030, released in 2000, is a concept album set in the year 3030 that tells of the protagonist's fight against huge corporations that rule the universe. The lyrics are characterized by extravagant allusions to futuristic outer-space themes in the tradition of Afrofuturist works by Sun Ra and George Clinton. Many samples originated with the contemporary French classical composer William Sheller.
With Del (performing as Deltron Zero) on vocals, Dan the Automator (as The Cantankerous Captain Aptos) on production, and Kid Koala (as Skiznoid the Boy Wonder) on turntables, this album takes the listener on a paranoid, dystopian journey set far in the future, dealing with viruses, the apocalypse, an oppressive government, and a war waged against a huge company called the Corporate Bank of Time that rules the universe, all to the well-crafted and consistent musical backing of the Automator. The album features a number of guest vocalists and musical contributions from other notable artists who also all appear under futuristic pseudonyms, including Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur), Prince Paul, Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Money Mark, Paul Barman, Mark Bell (Björk), Sean Lennon, and Mr. Lif.
